We’re excited to share a new collaboration between Off Leash MKE and Skilos A Family Pet Store: the Milwaukee Pet Food Project.

This initiative is designed to support pet families living in Milwaukee’s underserved neighborhoods — specifically areas where transportation barriers make it nearly impossible to access traditional pet-food resources or one-day distribution events.

How it works:

This project is funded through:

• Proceeds from our Howl-O-Weenie fundraiser

• Donations collected at the register at both Skilos locations

• Online donations from our community
  
  

All funds are used to purchase dog and cat food in bulk, making every donation go further.

We then partner with trusted neighborhood food pantries in Milwaukee’s under-resourced ZIP codes to get food directly into the hands of the families who need it most.

Why this matters:

February and March are some of the hardest months of the year for many Milwaukee families:

• Fewer donations

• Higher utility bills

• Unpredictable SNAP/FoodShare benefits

• Severe winter weather limiting transportation
  
  

Our goal is to bring pet food into neighborhoods at the exact time support usually drops off.
